Thoughts about Reading

A question that has occurred to me as I have thought about getting nonreaders to read more is what does reading matter if my life is in shambles.  It seems to me that a lot of students are dealing with some many personal issues that reading is the last thing they want to do.  Why don't students revel in getting lost in books anymore?  I working out my thoughts on this question.

Mrs. Walter's poem

Emily Dickinson wrote this poem.

I ’M nobody! Who are you?

Are you nobody, too?

Then there ’s a pair of us—don’t tell!

They ’d banish us, you know.

How dreary to be somebody!

How public, like a frog

To tell your name the livelong day

To an admiring bog!

I like this poem because I don't like to be the center of attention.  I am a quiet person.  I don't like to be in a noisy crowd of people.
